Meniscal Repair – Specialist Knee Surgeons in Worcester, Droitwich, Birmingham and Bromsgrove

Repair may be considered if the tear is in the vascular portion of the meniscus.
Beware of forcing weight bearing flexion beyond 60 – 90 degrees in the first 6 weeks. Weight-bearing flexion will cause the meniscus to move and may put tension on the sutures.
Active people who will not adhere to these instructions may require a cricket splint short term! There may be pain if the sutures have been passed through the joint capsule.
Limited weight bearing may be required in the early stages to further protect the repair.
Impact activities should be avoided for a minimum of 8 – 12 weeks. Return to full sporting activity will be dependant on the severity of the repair and the surgeons recommendation, but probably 4 – 6 months.

1) No swelling or pain
2) Full range of movement (including rotation in flexion in weight bearing)
