Mr. Kirti Moholkar trained on the North Western and West Midlands specialist registrar training programme and was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 2004. His main interests are sports related knee and shoulder injuries and treatment of related arthritic conditions.

His orthopaedic training includes clinical work in India, Australia, Southern Ireland, USA and the United Kingdom. He joined the Knee Clinic in 2005.

In 1997 he spent twelve months in Adelaide, Australia at the Flinders Medical Centre where he had an opportunity to learn knee arthroscopic and arthroplasty surgery. In the year 2000 his general experience included work with trauma knee surgery. He completed his training and then spent the last part of his training at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Knee and Shoulder Unit before being appointed a consultant in the same year at Stoke-on-Trent.

His NHS commitments include fulltime work at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital where he undertakes around 400 operations a year and sees around 1600 patients in the Outpatients’ Department. The surgical procedures include those described above. He works part-time at the BMI Nuffield Hospital in Birmingham and the Droitwich Knee Clinic where he undertakes similar procedures. His specialist interest lies in computer-assisted surgery on which he has presented quite extensively nationally and internationally. He has a keen interest in research and has a number of publications in national and international journals and has presented his research at conferences in Ireland, United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Amsterdam, Belgium and Paris.
